Internet provides a lot of information we need. Like two sides of coin, internet has positive and negative impact for its users. If we use for positive things internet will be the right tool for our needs but if we use negatively internet will be boomerang to crush our life. Therefore, to use internet we must have certain skills for helping us to evaluate website that contain responsible content in it.

Before we learnt how to evaluete website, we are required to have searching skills. Even though sounds simple but searching skills can help you find the information more effective and faster. These are some tips in searching “something” in google:
* Use “quotes mark” for explicit search.
* Use “minus sign” to exclude a keyword.
* Use logical connector such as OR, AND
* Use wildcards for unknown parts (* and?). E.g.: Engl*, cent??
* Use “vs” for comparison.

As a student, we must always be critical of the information provided by others included informations that have given by the internet. Therefore, if we found some interested website or important information on the internet, the first thing to do is evaluate the website, do not immediately believe. Here are six aspects that you should know in evaluating a website.
1) AUTHORITY
It is important to know who wrote the information. Is the author contactable? An expert? Credentials? Is the information relevant? Or Is the website supported by government or organization?
2) PURPOSE
Some interested website will be support the purpose of the site, the information geared to a specific audience (students, scholars or general reader, the site organized and focused on one topics
3) COVERAGE
It is mean that the website being able to claim their content focus and comprehensive. The information explains in-depth and the important thing is the information provides by website isn’t contain any plagiarism.
4) CURRENCY
It is related to when the information releases, how current the information presented is and how often the site is updated or maintained: first written, placed on the web, last revised
5) OBJECTIVITY
It refers whether the information content bias or no. Does the information contain hiding ideology? Does site advertising conflict with the content? Or is the site trying to explain, inform, persuade, or sell something?
6) ACCURACY (Accurate language use, Accurate content, etc) It refers how the use of accurate language or information provides by the site, you can suspect the website if the content contains elements of pornography, violence or even wrong grammar.

If a website doesn't meet one or six of these aspects, then you don't trust that website. If a website has fulfilled the six aspects described earlier, the website can be used as a trusted source of information and can be used as a reference material for your thesis. You can save or annotate the web using Diigo. Diigo is an online bookmarking website, this website is specifically intended if you want to annotate a website.

A. Introduction
   BBC Learning English is a department of the BBC World Service devoted to English language teaching.The service provides free resources and activities for teachers and students, primarily through its website. It also produces radio programs which go out on some of the BBC World Service's language services and partner stations. It has won numerous awards, including to Eltons from the British Council and an English Speaking Union award for innovation in English language teaching. Now we will explain about BBC Learning English.
B. Description of Website
   BBC Learning English is a part of BBC world Service. It has been teaching English to global audiences since 1943, offering free audio, video and text materials to learners around the world. Many materials are delivered as full length courses but each component of the course is standalone and can be studied on its own. All of courses are designed to work on mobiles, tablets and desktop computers - so wherever you are, you will be able to enjoy studying English with the BBC Learning English team. BBC Learning English have seven courses and a selection of feature items available that is:
a) English You Need
   This course will help you improve your ability to understand and use English as it appears in everyday life.
b) Towards Advanced
   This is a course for learners of English who are studying at a relatively high level. It is designed to help you become an even better speaker and to help you move towards a near-native level of English
c) Upper Intermediate Course
      This course is suitable for English learners in the level around C1. The course serves the learners  30unit based-video course which brings to take your English further.
d) Intermediate Course
      This course is for learners  at intermediate. There are a total of 30 units in the course, with 5 sessions in each Unit, including 6 Minute Grammar, 6 Minute Vocabulary and drama.
e) Lower Intermediate Course
      This course is for learners in around lower intermediate level, there are 30 units in the course. Each unit is based around a particular topic and explores grammar and vocabulary to improve your skills and pronunciation.
f) Shakespeare Speaks
      Shakespeare Speaks is a brand new series of 20 animated, voiced shorts produced by BBC Learning English in partnership with The Open University.
g) Features
      This section of the website is mainly for our higher level learners. Here you'll find  most popular programs. There are 6 Minute English. The English We Speak, LingoHack,,dramas and Pronunciation section,
      All of courses are designed to work on mobiles, tablets and desktop computers - so wherever you are, you will be able to enjoy studying English with the BBC Learning English team. If you are using a desktop, you can download audio mp3 files and PDF transcripts.
C. Evaluation
a) Authority
      This website release as a part of BBC series, this website are not contributtes by government but this is existing as own business. You can also cantact them if you have complain, give suggestion critic or any others by sending an E-mail to them.  The author of this website is a group of people that work and expert in their field. The expert team of producers, writers and ELT specialists create award-winning content which engages and entertains the learners whilst helping them improve their English. The team include:
* Paul Scott as a Head of Department,  he is responsible for the strategy and direction of the department
* Neil works as a Team Leader at BBC Learning English. He make some of the programmes, he started his career at the BBC Since 2006, though he has been at the BBC since 2002 as a news journalist in local radio. Before that, he taught English in Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Japan and the UK.
* Catherine Chapman as a team leader,she has been with BBC Learning English for over ten years.she was an English teacher in 1996 and ever taught English in Turkey, Argentina and Dubai, as well as in the UK.
* Rob Carter as a producer, his role is to come up with ideas, create content for our website, present and edit programmes. He hasbeen with the department since 2010. Before that he was making radio programmes for children which was a lot of fun.
* Feifei Feng as a producer and business development manager, she is a bi-lingual producer. She produce Learning English content for both Chinese and global audiences. He has worked for BBC Learning English since 2006.
b) Purpose
      All of the contents in this site are for helping and supporting the English learners around the world. These also for everyone who want to learning english started from students in school or university and general reader. Beacause this website is one of the part of BBC, they are often inserted link related to BBC News, BBC Radio, etc. 
c) Coverage
      The site is not claim itself as a comprehensive learnng resources but they just mention that BBC Leraning English is “Inspiring Languange Learning.” The content of this site almost describe the topics in detail, like but also are just for entertaining. Because this website is offical  website, so i guarantee this website is not same with other website, the content also will not take uknown sources. They usually doing a research or interview people about the current issues and of course it is free from plagiarism.
d) Currency
      The informations presented in this website are often talking about the current issues, trend and remarkable technology. Unfortunately, this website is not updated continously. They just relase the new topics and erase the old topics and we can not see the last revised, first written or  place of this website
e) Objectivity
      The possibility of bias in this website is still present but is not much. Sometime, there are some topics that show a certain ideology but it is not affected to much to the readers. This website do not allow advertisors sell their product on the contents. 
f) Accuracy
      The author of this website affiliated with certain people who experienced in website and teaching English. The information that given in this website is factual information that taken directly with trusted people. When we reading one of the contents, it seems accurate because supported by certain data. The grammar, spelling and composition seems natural and less mistakes. However, the data that show in the contents is not indicate the references or bibliography. 
D. Conclusion
      In conclusion, this site is a site that is not involved with the government. The authors of this site are people who are experts in their fields. The purpose of the content on this site is to help and help English language students around the world. The content of this site almost describes the topic in detail, likes but also just to entertain. Because this website is an official website, I guarantee that this website is not the same as other website, content will not take unknown sources. This site also often discusses current issues, but is often not updated. This site does not allow ads to appear on their content. The information provided on this website is factual information taken directly by trusted people.  In our opinion, this site may be used as a source of learning and also recommended. Because this site is specifically for students around the world. The contents of this site almost describe the topic in detail, but it can also be just to entertain. Because this website is an official website, they also guarantee that this website is not the same as other websites, content will not take unknown sources. They usually research or interview people about current issues and of course are free from plagiarism. so that the factual issue can be answered.

Reflection

As a student, with learning how to evaluate a website and how to annotate the website is very useful to me. It is will be very useful when I write a thesis. Having a knowledge about evaluate a website will make me a smart perso in capturing information. Moreover, in the 21st century there is a lot of untrue information scattered out there. so learning this will open my eyes wider to the information
