Teaching Writing

 

Introduction

Writing is a process to transform your ideas in your mind into paper or online platform. Because it is a process, so it might contain steps before creating your final writing.  Process in writing includes 5 steps:

 

1. Planning

In these steps, you only need to develop your ideas, find your ideas and build your ideas.  You require creating outline, brainstorm or mind mapping before you start to write.

2. Drifting

In these steps, you start to write your ideas that have you collected in your brain. Your writing will be easy if you have write outline first. That's why planning is important before you write.

3. Revising

In these steps, you will revise your write whether it's word, sentence, structure or ideas itself. Everything that you need to make your writing better

4. Editing

This process is continuance from previous process. The difference is in these steps, you are only need to check spelling, punctuation and grammar before you launch your writing

5. Publishing

This is the final steps in writing.  You publish your writing in order to people can read your writing; therefore you will get feedback from people who have read your writing.

Reflection

For the first time when I learn about teaching writing, I directly guess that this must learn about platform used for teaching writing, I guess its blog, Wikipedia or something else. But my guess is totally wrong. Here, we are taught about how to make a Webquest. Webquest is not same like blog. According to Webquest.org, Webquest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. It can be created using various programs, including a simple word processing document that includes links to websites. In this opportunity, we use Google site as a media to write webquest.  Here are link to our Webquest. 

This time our learning method is grouping. So, we demand to work in group to make Webquest. Our task is not too hard, we just discuss about what we should write in webquest, we discuss about lesson plan and teaching methodology that should be used when teaching writing.  To be honest, until now, I actually don't understand the use of Webquest, what benefits for teachers to know this, what is the function.  But, as time changes, may we in the future this will be very useful for teachers, maybe for me too. So, I keep in my mind that it is important and beneficial.
